- Leetonia Exempted Village School District
- Busing Information
-
Dear Leetonia parents and students,
As you may or may not be aware, there is a national shortage of school bus drivers and the Leetonia Schools Transportation Department has been doing everything possible to find additional substitutes. Unfortunately, we have to operate with Combination Bus Routes. We are aware this is an inconvenience to everyone and we appreciate your understanding and support. We have an open position for a permanent substitute bus driver we have yet to fill and we are in need of substitutes. If you know of anyone interested in becoming a bus driver, either full time or substitute, please ask them to contact the school.
Here is a brief breakdown of our current plans for the regular Combination Routes when we are short one bus and the Emergency Combination Routes when we are short two buses. We hope this helps our families understand in advance what to expect on these days.
Combination Route
AM
- Buses 6, 5, 1 and 12 will pick up their regular riders around their normal time.
- Bus 13’s regular riders are divided between buses 6, 5, 1 and 12 and they are picked up at the end of their regular routes. These students are typically picked up approximately 10 to 20 minutes later than normal.
- We chose to divide bus 13’s route due to it being the most condensed and shortest in our district.
PM
- Buses 6, 5, 1 and 12 will drop off their bus 13 riders prior to beginning their regular route.
- This will make some of the bus 13 riders a little earlier than normal and their regular riders approximately 10 to 20 minutes later than normal.
Emergency Combination Route
AM
- Buses 6, 5 and 1 will pick up their regular riders around their normal time and drop them off at the school.
- Two buses will leave to pick up bus 13’s riders and the third bus will pick up bus 12’s riders. Bus 12 and 13’s riders will be picked up approximately 15 to 30 minutes later than normal.
PM
- Bus 13’s riders will be divided between buses 6, 5 and 1 and they will be dropped off first. These riders may be earlier than normal.
- Bus 12 riders will be divided between buses 6 and 5. Some of these riders will be dropped off before their regular riders, some will be mixed in. They will be approximately 10 to 20 minutes later than normal.
- Bus 6, 5 and 1’s regular riders will be approximately 15 to 30 minutes later than normal.
- The school van is a certified mode of transportation and may be used as needed.
CCCTC and Opportunity School Students
- After the elementary students are dropped off a bus will take them to their schools. This bus will likely leave between 9:00 and 9:30.
- The students that attend AM only at the CCCTC will remain at the LHS and there will not be a mid-day bus.
- The PM bus to bring the students back to the LHS will arrive on time.
Thank you very much for your cooperation. We are doing everything we can to make sure the Combination and Emergency Combination routes are used only as a last resort. If you have any transportation questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to call my office at 330-427-6594, ext 2448.
Sincerely,
Dano Favazzo
Director of Transportation
